Bryan Hullihen's intro to other drugs

Around this time Bryan Hullihen moved back to Jupiter Florida with his friend who's name was also Brian. Bryan rented a room from his friend's mother for a small amount of money that he paid each week. It was a good thing that it wasn't a lot of money because he didn't make much. Bryan got a job working for a landscaping company where he worked each day during the week and quickly proved his worth to the organization. At this point in Bryan's life he would not touch alcohol and truly believed his problem to solely be that concerning the use of alcohol which is exactly why he found it so easy to decide to start smoking pot again at twenty-one  years old. Every day Bryan went to work he would see so many of the people that he worked with smoking pot with seeming impunity and, with the belief that his problem was solely alcohol, he found easy to jump off that cliff one morning with the rest of his crew. That day was a breeze for Bryan as he recalls barely thinking about how little he liked his job or his boss. When Bryan got home from work that day he had no feelings of doing anything wrong and sincerely believed that smoking pot was fine as long as he didn't touch any alcohol. The faith in this delusion carried Bryan through on the marijuana maintenance program for about two years and he was able to find success in business which further strengthened the fallacy that his only problem was alcohol. After those two years Bryan began experimenting with MDMA which was introduced to him by his girlfriend at the time and, yet again, since it wasn't alcohol Bryan thought it would be fine. At first, things were good. Business was good and the feelings produced by the drug lended credence to the name by which it was known, "Ecstasy". In the beginning Mr. Hullihen would buy ten pills on a Friday and that would last him and his girlfriend until Sunday morning. After a year those same ten pills didn't last the night. Over time Bryan was high on MDMA more than he wasn't and it wasn't long after that when Bryan began needing Xanax to come down from the ecstasy so he could show up to run his business on Monday. One day Bryan was finishing up a job for the owner of the Florida Bobcats, a professional arena football team, when the idea came to him that going to the beach and hanging out with friends would be cool. Then the memory came of a time when he would be partying with friends at the beach while getting drunk and listening to sublime. That day Bryan got so drunk that he almost ruined his relationship completely with his girlfriend and was completely bed ridden due to alcohol poisoning for three days. It didn't take long for Bryan to lose everything for the second time in his life and he was only twenty-four. Luckily for Bryan his sister worked at a treatment center in South Florida where she ran the finance department and was connected enough to get him a scholarship to the program as Bryan had no money left. Bryan Hullihen was finally ready to admit defeat after only drinking again for a year and accepted the help offered by his sister. Bryan was off to treatment but little did he know that the real suffering was yet to come.

Informational Story about Bryan Hullihen

For several more years Bryan Hullihen continued to experiment with drugs and drink alcohol while his behavior became increasingly more unstable due to his continued substance abuse. Bryan spent most of his time during this phase of his life with his girlfriend, his stepbrother, and his stepbrother’s girlfriend. Although Bryan was only 17 he drank more alcohol than most 21-year olds and he lived his life as if it were a perpetual party. The beginning of the end for this way of life for the young Mr. Hullihen occurred one night while camping with those who Bryan spent most of his time with. Bryan and his friends had been drinking all night while camping on an island when around midnight they had run out of beer. Not wanting the party to end Bryan took his friend’s boat back to the marina where his vehicle was parked and headed off to the store to buy more alcohol. Bryan ended up at the beach as his friend’s birthday party was ending and he hoped to catch his friend to wish him a happy ...

Bryan Hullihen starts telling his own story

Up until this point my story it has been lived by me and delivered to you in writing by somebody else due to the fact that I have been in prison for several years following a relapse. For a while I considered allowing that person to continue to write my story for me, however, I feel that a story is best told by the person who lived it. By this time in my life I was completely defeated and was willing to do whatever I needed to do in order to stop suffering so I entered into the treatment facility that my sister got me into with a level of humility that I hadn't felt in a long time. I fought against myself for far too long and I was done fighting. When I arrived at the treatment facility it was a whirlwind of questions and intake procedures so by the time it was all finished I was exhausted and soon after being given some detox medications I was out for the count for several hours. When I woke up the next day I was directed to a group that was filled with firefighters as this was j...

Bryan Hullihen's Early Adult Years

At 18 years old Bryan Hullihen entered into the sober living program called "Born Anew" which was located in an extremely rough part of West Palm Beach. Bryan had no vehicle at the time, no job, and had no idea how to overcome his insatiable desire to drink alcohol. Born Anew was a program which consisted of three neighboring houses that all shared one big backyard where there was a gazebo and an office. The gazebo was very large and is where most of the meetings centered around recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction took place. This program was for males only and between the three houses there were about 20 members of the program. The first several days Bryan was not allowed to leave the program grounds and he was given certain tasks and chores to accomplish to help him stay busy and learn a little humility. Around 5:00 in the evening all the other members of the program would return home from their jobs and, following dinner, would join together in the gazebo for rec...
